This site contains two Databases: the General Historical Database (GHD), and the Photographed Monuments and Inscriptions Database (PMID). There are also Further Resources and Related Articles. Please use the links on the left for these features. This original resource uses photographed gravestones, family Bibles, memorial cards, parish magazines, various school, church, and military publications, as well as other documents and ephemera. This material is not (or not easily) accessible elsewhere. The Databases contain basic info from sources, plus some additional useful detail. They are more than mere indexes. The material relates to locations all over the UK, but mostly England, with several counties very well represented. A wide date range is involved, but most of the material falls between the mid-Victorian period and the early 20th Century.
